"Painting is like a self healing practice for me. Translating abstract concepts, along with the art making process itself, challenge me to confront myself, to provoke self awareness, and to positively feed my soul. Further, the focused attention involved serves to keep me grounded in the present. Here, I can experience moments of non judgment, compassion, and the reassuring sense that I'm connected with all things.
Conceptually, while my artwork has a spiritual bent, visually I'm motivated to express this mostly in non representational ways. While I play around with ethereal and atmospheric stylings, I also like to shake things up by using elements of surprise, such as contrary imagery, unexpected color splashes, or scratchy textures for visual impact."
